What are Bifix caps?
Bifix Caps are low profile, high-quality mouldings, that are easy to use, and are available in 96 stock colours.
The unique stem (comprising 16 micro-wings) makes Bifix Caps the ONLY 'pozi' caps that:
- work in both Phillips & Pozi screws - hence the name: Bi- Fix
- can grip in out-of-tolerance drive-recesses
- have been awarded a patent
With 96 stock colours, Bifix caps can match nearly all major laminates (solid colours, woodgrains and patterns) used in the UK - making Bifix caps a very cost-effective way to not just cover - but really hide your fixings from sight.
Bifix Caps are easy to use
When properly installed, Bifix caps will not fall out, or brush off. You can confidently wipe a cleaning cloth over Bifix caps. Like any of the ‘star’ caps, Bifix can be picked out with a fingernail. If you require a low-profile cap that cannot be easily removed (such as an area accessed by the public) we recommend considering our ‘long-stem’ Stemfix Caps.
Note: Bifix caps are not recommended for applications subject to vibration such as vehicles.
Because of the nature of how the plastic splines deform to get this exceptional grip, Bifix caps should only be used once or twice for best results.
"...but most pozi caps just fall out!"
Most 'star' caps rely on an interference (or friction) between the sides of the driver recess and the 4 'wings' of the stem of the cap.
This only works if the screw’s drive recess is close to tolerance. In practice, on a #8 countersunk screw, tolerances can vary by 20% (even more on some imported screws), so normal ‘Pozi’ caps will (more often than not) be too loose or too tight.
The Pro-Dec Solution
Rather than making a cap (like everyone else) that doesn't work, Pro-Dec set about a radical re-design:
The Stem: Bifix caps have a patented stem, incorporating 16 tiny wings, or splines. When aligned properly in the screw-head, the splines push against each other, and against the walls of the central (circular) part of the drive recess, rather like tiny springs.
This guarantees a good grip in both Phillips and Pozidriv screws, even when screws are out-of-tolerance, burred and damaged. In fact, this makes Bifix the best ‘Pozi’ cap available – part of the reason Bifix is the only ‘Pozi’ cap to be granted a patent in the UK.
The Crown: Bifix caps utilise the same low-profile crown used on Stemfix caps. This means the cap is less noticeable and importantly, when the cupboard is being washed or wiped clean that cloths won't snag on the edges of the caps.
The underside of the crown is slightly concave to allow for screws that have not been driven flush with the work-surface. The crown is flexible to ensure the smoothest transition from the work-surface to the cap.

- Colour Chart is intended only as an indication to the colours available.
- Whilst all possible care has been taken to ensure the best colour reproduction possible, variations between monitors means the colours will not display 100% accurately. Please do NOT use this chart for colour matching purposes.
- To ensure you select the best possible colour match, you should use the Colour Matching Guide or ask for samples before ordering.
- Pause mouse over colour swatch to check stock availability.
- Colours marked (M) are a metallic colour - they have a metallic "fleck" throughout them, similar to metallic car paint. They should not be confused with the Electroplated- finish Snap-Caps

Material
Bifix caps are manufactured in Polypropylene. All materials used are 'food-grade' quality.
Bifix Cap Dimensions
Bifix caps are designed for use with flush-fitted countersunk fixing that have a No.2 drive recess (the size of the recess determines the size of the screwdriver or bit you should be using – in this case a No.2 driver). A No.2 drive recess is usually found on M3.5 to M4.2 (No6 to No.8) screws - but less frequently on larger fixings.

The product was as good as could be expected, if not better, and really fast delivery. Have fitted them onto the egger carcass colour & only just notice them so spot on. Was really disappointed with the postage of £7.75 when the item was listed at £9.10

Gary, we're glad you like the caps. As most of our customers appreciate, our caps are not the cheapest in the UK, however we keep 96 colours in stock and can have them in your hands the next day. It doesn't really matter how cheap you can get other caps if a) you can only get them in 6 colours or b) it takes 3 weeks to get them.
Our 'postage' is a next-business day courier. It is Trackable, with PoD's, and they take full responsibilty for safe delivery. Yes, there are cheaper couriers, but when our customers must have products the next day, the reliability of those couriers is not good enough. We have used RM and cheaper couriers in the past; if we included our costs for time wasted trying to track down missing parcels, these services would be unacceptably costly. You are always welcome to a)get free delivery by placing an order of £100 or more (product value) or b) dropping by our office near Rugby and collecting your order.

Caps do not grip on the screw
Rather than the common 'crucifix' stem of a Pozi cap, Bifix caps have been designed and moulded with the intricate 16-wing stem - to achieve the best fit of any "Pozi" caps on the market. Bifix caps are the only pozi-type cap ever to be granted a patent (including in the UK).
If you look at the stem closely, you will see that some wings are bigger than others. These wings are designed to fit inside the screw in a certain order, and just like any other Pozi cap, Bifix Caps need to be aligned in the screw before being pushed into place.
When properly fitted, the micro-wings of the stem press against each other, and against the walls of the screw's drive recess, achieving a grip that is greatly superior to the grip of a common pozi cap.
Brute force and/or hitting the cap with a hammer will NOT achieve a better fit. It will however render the stem unusable and damage the top of the cap!
